The Archduke path
From Valldemossa to Deià
In the morning, you leave the charming mountain town of Valldemossa and start walking uphill to enjoy of the classics among Mallorcan hiking: the archduke path. The itinerary passes most of it inside the lush holm oak forest, except in the upper part and at the end of it. Once you have reached the Archduke’s crest (925m), it is a good time to admire the exceptional 360º views, and think about why in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a member of the imperial family of the Habsburgs established his residence in this area for more than 40 years. The great descent from the ridge, immerses you in the bohemian town of artists, between the sea and the mountains: the small town of Deià.
