The Jewel of the Mediterranean

Walking holidays with local expert guide in Autumn and Winter in MALLORCA

The jewel of the Mediterranean, the Serra de Tramuntana

In the northwest of the Spain’s largest island, Mallorca, there a quiet and traditional landscape, far away from the busy touristic centres found on the southerncoast. Amazing 400m vertical cliffs that extend to more than 1000m in capricious ridges and large masses of limestone, emerge abruptly from the Mediterranean Sea to form the spectacular relief of the rugged Serra de Tramuntana.

Through medieval paths that wind through the woodland, coast and mountains, you will walk towards one of the highest peaks of the Tramuntana with the omnipresent view of the sea and you will visit the dry- stone terraces that nurture millenary olive trees or orange and lemon trees bathed in the sunshine. You will visit beautiful traditional fishing ports, hamlets and villages in the mountains, as well as remote pebbled coves with crystal clear waters where, if the weather is good, you will be able to swim.

This is a tour where comfort and strategic location of the accommodation in the picturesque port of Sóller or in Sóller (depending on the season), prevail, along with the best walking routes in the Spanish Mediterranean.

Wethen enter the domains of the wild bay of sa Costera, dominated by the dramatic buttresses of the northern slope of the Moncaire mountain (839m), a spectacle of nature and Mediterranean landscape, the path becomes a pure delight for all the senses! General information of the Jewel of the Mediterranean

Meteorology

Here we show you the average temperatures and rainy days in the Serra de Tramuntana for the months when we run this trip

Autumn is high season for hiking, when the sea temperatures are still warm and the sun plays a capricious game of lights on the mountains.

Winter is a very good time to walk in Mallorca, as there are many bright days with blue skies and optimal visibility for photography, and also for the peace and tranquility that reigns in the mountains. Perhaps now the popular attraction are the beaches, however at the beginning of the 20th century, the first tourists who came to the island always came to walk during the winter season, to get away from the harsher climate conditions of central and northern Europe.

Spring is high season for hiking again with an explosion of wildlife, and it is not unusual to start enjoying a refreshing swim in the sea. The Serra de Tramuntana gives us endless interesting colours that vary throughout the year.

Fortunately for the wild nature, it sometimes rains in Mallorca, and snow is not unheard of at higher elevations on winter time.
